They Are All Winners!
On Saturday night at Club La Cage in Wheeling, West Virginia, Bodaxia La Croix and West Virginia Queer News hosted the first-ever Mr. WVQN Drag King Contest. Up for grabs were 100 dollars in cold hard cash, along with all of the trimmings- one crown, one sash, one robe, and the Title.
The competition was stiff and it was truly hard to decide who should win. One contestant had enough to edge out the other two. If these contestants ever perform at a bar close to you, you should really go check them out:
Mr. Jesse James
Mr. Stefan Kash
Mr. Sonny Martin
After the contestants battled it out in the bar wear and formal wear presentation, they brought their talents to the stage. They were all clearly very talented. These are the results of the contest:
2nd runner up went to Stefan Kash
1st runner up went to Mr Jesse James
The first Mr. WVQN Drag King 2008-2009 is Mr. Sonny Martin!
Each one of the contestants brought a great act to the stage and should definitely be applauded for an excellent job! Our line-up of entertainment for the night was beyond comparison with The La Croix family, including Bodaxia, Ashley and October (newly crowned Ms. Junior Diva 2008-2009) and Ms Boom Boom La Rue.
A special thanks goes out to the bartenders and owners of Club La Cage. Who could forget Erin and that wonderful, helpful DJ, Digital Dave? Thanks for all the fun and for helping us to make gay entertainment history!
