In the Spotlight
Frankie La Vallee
and the 2nd Annual
Mr West Virginia
Queer News
Pageant

On April 25th, at Trax in Charleston, WV, we had our Second Annual Mr West Virginia Queer News competition. While all contestants were there at 10PM, the contest did not start til 1AM. At that time, 6 contestants were ready to compete and claim the title of Mr West Virginia Queer News 2008-2009.

They were:
Contestant Number 1     Tigger or Rick from Huntington, WV
Contestant Number 2     Preston Florez  from Beckley, WV
Contestant Number 3     Scott from South Point, Ohio
Contestant Number 4     Barry Bonds from Parkersburg, WV
Contestant Number 5     Frankie La Vallee from Charleston, WV
Contestant Number 6     Marty Adams from St Albans, WV

The first category was formal wear, and all the contestants came out dressed to impress. I personally feel that the two top competitors in this category were Marty Adams and Preston Florez, while Tigger ran a close third.

The second category was pride wear, and the two best in this category were :
Preston Florez and his woven in rainbow colors

 and

Frankie La Vallee's rainbow hands on his spandex shorts.

The third category was talent and one really stood out and brought everyone to the floor to see it. Preston's talent was awesome. He danced to over 30 dance songs, everything for Achey Breaky Heart, to the mashed potato. The next two best talent's were Frankie's version of Egyptian times, along with the true talents of Barry Bond singing The Fray.

While the competition was fierce, our entertainment was flawless as well.
They were Sherisse Dupree, simply awesome!

Bianca Baker, Ms Sweetheart of 2008,

Ms West Virginia Queer News, Martina Dezerae,
and the talented Ms Lacey Lynn Taylors, our newly crowned Ms West Virginia Queer News, New Face 2008-2009.

It was my great privilidge to dedicate the night to her, and to be able to crown her as our lady of the night as well as a titleholder. Congratulations Lacey Lynn.

As for the winner of the competition,
Mr Frankie La Vallee won in record fashion and simply stood out from the rest.

Our first runner-up was Preston Florez, who was awesome.

along with second runner-up Barry Bonds.

We want to congratulate all the contestants, they did a simply fantastic job and are all to be applauded and thank you so much for making our 2nd Annual Mr West Virginia Queer News a huge success!
