The Terry Awards and Ms West Virginia Queer News Pageant
(Witthout a doubt, one of the biggest events of the year)

The 2008 Terry Awards kicked off with a major bang and without one single flaw. Friday night, March 20th, 2009 will go down in history as the fourth Annual celebration. This year's theme was "Leather and Lace" and wow!, what a show the entertainers had in store for you!

The night began with a special thanks announcement from Captainahab and also a little introduction telling those who have never been to the awards, exactly what they are. (Special thanks was giving to all the entertainers who performed over friday and saturday night along with generous donating people like Jeffrey Stump, Bryce Mc Conaughey, Roi Stephens, Leeza Zoellers, Jim Lawson and his partner Darren, Chuck from Pitts, Matt Fitch, Bradley Stewart and all the patrons who tipped at the two fundraisers earlier this year. We would also like to thank Mimi and Vince for hosting the event and also the wonerful staff at Woodstarr.

.

I would also like to give a special thanks to Robin Hearts. James Yoast and Montaz, this entertainer has the makings of a true diva. She exerts nothing but class and true elegance once she hits the stage. Her entertainment for the evening was flawless, not to mention her skill as a hostess. She goes above and beyond the call of duty and has definitely out did herself as the first lady of West Virginia Queer News and now the current reigning Ms Vice Versa. Thank you Robin !

The first to hit the stage was one of the contestants competing on Saturday night for the title of Ms WVQN, Morgan La Faye. Her outfit was stunning and boy, did she bring to life, the leather seductress that stole the stage.

Then Captain and Lady Justice got down to visit with the nominees and winners of the contest. Here is the take on the ones they did until the next fabulous number we had in store for you.

One of the big winners of the evening was an ex military officer, Pepe Johnson. He is an activist and a continued leader in the community around us.  He works very closely with the education of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell and why it should be changed. Check out his site to see what kind of work he does. Http://integrityinservice.org  Congratulations to him and thanks for your support.

We also had a 50/50 drawing and my friend Dustin raised well over 200 dollars on that. Way to hustle and thanks so much.

The most significatn part of the evening came from a straight couple who came to Woodstarr to support their child for becoming a great success in the female impersonatiing world. October La Croix, not only siginifies youth and talent of an upcoming star in the state but she acquires the poise and class to realize that through support from her family she can achieve anything! She and her family make me proud as an individual, even as uncomfortable as they felt. They stuck it out and enjoyed themselves. I believe in the end, they felt the love in the air and came to realize these functions are more a function of support more than anything. I thank you all for coming to the Terry Awards and you make me proud to call friend. Ms West Virginia Queer News Pageant

This year and every year so far, the prestige for this title grows with the quality of queens that come out for the right to be called Ms West Virginia Queer News 2009-2010. The thing we were looking for was this next unique diva who would fill the shoes of the two prior winners who brought class and upright honor to the title, Ms Robin Hearts and Ms Martina Deserae.

Forever will be, The First Lady of West Virginia Queer News

The 2nd Ms West Virginia Queer News, Martina Deserae

The battle was an awesome one, as six contestants came out to win. They challenged one another in categories like Gold Presentation with Question and Answer, Creative Evening Wear, and Talent (5-8 mins). The six contestants were Boom Boom La Rue, Morgan La Faye, Tearah Deserae, Patricia Knight, October La Croix, and Extreme La Croix.

It was a hard fought battle but in the end only one queen could win. However, they duked it out in each category. For the new face title, Ms Tearah Deserae won every category by a minimal amount over the newcomer October La Croix and even Ms Extreme La Croix held her own in the competition. For the Ms West Virginia Queer News title, It was a slug fest!

Gold Presentation was fierce, Patricia Knight wore out an egyptian outfit that was quite stunning but Ms Morgan La Faye's genie outfit and smoke entrance stole the show. However, the winner of gold presentation went to Patricia Knight, the question and answer part made and broke many of the competitors.

Finally we got to the creative evening wear of the evening and everyone brought their own take on what creative means to them. Patricia Knight won the category with a red evening gown with a bra showing and lace dangling from fingers to waist.  Morgan La Faye's creative piece seemed to be one of the most put together from scratch and by far the most beautiful of the night and different.

Then came the talent portion of the competition and all contestants came to win. Ms Morgan La Faye came out and did a mix of Britney Spear's. With her feminizing Circus production and downright sexy moves. She was the sure winner in talent. While Patricia Knight was a close second with her rendition of Tina Turner's Proud Mary mix.

When it came down to it just a mere 25 points separated the top two competitors. This evening though, Ms Patricia Knight was crowned as Ms West Virginia Queer News 2009-2010. Congratulations to all contestants though, you brought an element of fun and life to the pageant and I applaude you all.
